Belly Dance Classes

Beginner Classes:

Beginner 1
This class is for adults (15 years and up). By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn belly dancing basics to one complete song. (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.)
Cost: $100 + HST

Dancercise
You will learn belly dance movements to a different song each week, while toning and shaping your body. Join us for this exciting and invigorating workout class. (There is no Recital for this class.)
Cost: $100 + HST

Beginner 2
Adults learn belly dance basics with veils*. You will learn additional belly dancing steps, compared to the Beginner 1 class. By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn to belly dancing with a veil* to one complete song. (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.)
Cost: $110 + HST

50 & Up Belly Dance

For ages 50 and up. Learn beginners belly dance basics, stay healthy and "young at heart"! By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn belly dancing basics to one complete song. (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.)

Cost: $100 + HST

50 & Up Dancercise

For ages 50 and up. You will learn belly dance movements to a different song each week with minimal exercise.

Cost: $100 + HST

Intermediate, Advanced and Experienced Classes:

Intermediate 1
Adults receive a complete instruction of belly dancing with the use of a veil*. Intermediate 1 allows you to perfect your dance steps and learn new steps. By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn to belly dancing with a veil* to one complete song. (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.)
Cost: $125 + HST

Intermediate 2
Adults receive thorough belly dance instruction. Intermediate 2 allows you to perfect and refine your dance steps and techniques. By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn traditional folk belly dancing to one complete song. (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.)

Cost: $135 + HST

Advanced
In this class, you will master your belly dance techniques, including the use of an accessory (ie. cane, tambourine, veil, candle, sword or zills (finger cymbals)). By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn traditional belly dancing to one complete song. (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.)
Cost: $150 + HST

Solo
Available to all age groups. This class is custom tailored for you! The Solo class allows you to learn new belly dance steps and techniques, and refine those steps that you aleady know. You choose whether you wish to learn belly dancing with or without a prop (ie. cane, tambourine, veil, candle, sword or zills (finger cymbals)). You select which song you will dance to from a complete listing of songs that Zahra's School has available. Zahra's specializes in choreography and in this class, Zahra will choreograph something special just for you! (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.)
Cost: $250 + HST

Children & Youth Classes:

Youth
This belly dance class is designed for children 6 to 12 years old. By the end of 10 weeks, your child will learn the belly dancing basics to one complete song. (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.) This class is qualifies for the Child Tax Credit.
Cost: $75 + HST

Myrrhmaids
This class is designed for teenagers and tweens. By the end of 10 weeks, the teen or tween will learn the belly dancing basics to one complete song. (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.) This class may qualify for the Child Tax Credit.
Cost: $100 + HST

Mother - Daughter(s)
What a better way to spend time with your daughter(s). By the end of 10 weeks, you and your daughter(s)partner will learn belly dancing basics to one complete song. (Performance at the Recital is not mandatory.) Recommended age for daughters between 4 & 12 years old.
Cost: $150 + HST (per mother and daughter)

$75 for each additional child

Pre-natal Belly Dance
Join other pregnant moms for the ultimate workout! Tone the pregnancy and child bearing muscles and get in touch with your inner goddess. This slow tribal style belly dance class emphasizes stretching and interactive dance. All trimesters welcome! Please consult your doctor before signing-up.
Cost: $100 + HST

Baby Stroller Park and Dance
Spend time around other new moms while shedding those baby pounds through belly dance. This class is designed to reshape your body after pregnancy. Your baby is encouraged to dance with you while he/she is in a carrier. This class is recommended for moms who feel ready to exercise and babies up to 2 years old.
Cost: $100 + HST

Moms and Tots
Spend some time with your tot, while learning the ancient art of belly dance. This class is for children 3-5 years old.
Cost: $100 + HST (per mother and tot)

Specialty Classes:

Couples

This class is a great way to spend time with your significant other! By the end of the 10 weeks, you and your partner will learn belly dancing basics to a complete song, while sharing quality time together.

Cost: $200 + HST (per couple)

Tribal
American Tribal Style belly dance is a fusion style inspired by traditional belly dance and folkloric dance movements from India, Central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Spain. The moves in American Tribal Style belly dance are controlled and earthy portraying the strength and beauty of the dancers. One of the most rewarding aspects of this dance is the camaraderie that develops between the dancers from working so closely in an improvisational setting. Each dancer learns to communicate through body language and is mentally aware of her partners at all times. By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn a complete dance in accordance with the American Tribal Style belly dance.
Cost: $150 + HST

Tabla
This class consists of belly dancing to authentic middle eastern drum music. By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn to shimmy to this fast music. This class is intended for advanced students.

Cost: $100 + HST

Drills

This class allows the dancer to focus on belly dance technique and style. You will focus on belly dancing drills which allows you to improve your technique.

Cost: $100 + HST

East Meets West
This class covers the basic foundation movements of belly dancing by building on steps learned from other classes. This class is easy to follow, easy to retain, and fun! It will also provide you with a low impact workout that improves flexibility and coordination. By the end of 10 weeks, you will dance to modern music and learn an entire belly dance routine choreography by the end.

Cost: $100 + HST

Bellynesian

This class is unique because of its integration of Polynesian and Belly dances. It includes the simple and smooth movements of Polynesian dance. This class is easy to follow, retain class steps and is incredibly fun! You will learn the entire routine to one song by the end of the 10 weeks.

Cost: $100 + HST

Belly Dance and Burlesque

This is a popular class that has been added to the class lists. Both Belly Dance and Burlesque are sensual. Burlesque allows you to let go of your inhibitions. You will learn the entire routine by the end of the 10 weeks. A costume is included in the price of the class.

Cost: $250 + HST

Bollywood Fusion

This is a popular class that incorporates belly dancing with Modern Indian dancing. You will learn the entire routine to one complete song by the end of the 10 weeks.

Cost: $100 + HST

Latin Fusion

Learn Latin dancing through the eyes of a belly dancer. Latin Fusion introduces to your lating dancing and allows you to perfect and refine your dance steps and techniques. You will learn the entire routine to one complete song by the end of 10 weeks.

Cost: $250 + HST- A costume is included in this price (a skirt & top)

Isis Wings

Learn to use Isis Wings to enhance your belly dance skills. You will introduce Isis Wings to your dance routing and will learn to perfect and refine your dance steps. By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn to belly dance with Isis Wings to one complete song.

Cost: $250 + HST- The Isis Wings are included in this price.

Sword

Learn a great routine using the mighty sword. This class concentrates on incorporating the sword to belly dancing. By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn to belly dance using the sword as a prop.

Cost: $250 + HST- A sword is included in this price.

Zills (Finger Cymbols)

Learn how to use zills to enhance your belly dance skills. You will introduce zills to your dance routine and will learn perfect and refine your dance steps and techniques. By the end of 10 weeks, you will learn to belly dance with zills to one complete song.

Cost: $150 + HST
